Whether you are working from home or just looking for a quick getaway to recharge, a cabin in the woods is always a great idea. Recently, we visited Cabin in the Woods Oakland, Maryland and it was truly a hidden gem. Located right next to Swallow Falls Park, this property was situated right in the heart of nature and off the beaten path which gave us the perfect opportunity to reconnect and recharge as a family. We also felt secure as the property was in the gated community that required a passcode which was given to us from our Airbnb Host.

When we arrived, we first noticed the multiple outdoor entertaining spaces that we could use. The outdoor firepit was right on the wood line and ready for us to roast marshmallows with firewood available for us to use. Just a few feet away was a large hot tub that was perfect for watching the stars at night. Lastly, the ambiance of patio lighting really pulled the outdoor space together. You could tell that the Airbnb Owner really made this place for families and friends to bond and enjoy nature.

Entering the Cabin was nothing less than breath taking. Clean, Cozy, and just perfect! The natural wood and bear decor really gave the cozy cabin vibe. The furniture was beautiful, and each room had such a special touch of accommodation. When you enter you are greeted with the living room. There was ample place to gather for a movie or board game.

This cabin was recently renovated and upgrading with all the amenities you would want from home but placed in a cabin. Moving from the living room to the Kitchen, you have a bathroom with a beautiful glass shower and also a top-of-the-line washer and dryer to do your laundry. Into the Kitchen you have stainless steel appliances and a fully stocked kitchen with all of your dinnerware, cutlery, and pots and pans. There were even beverages in the refrigerator. Our host truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

Inside the kitchen you also had a large table for meals. The table was so unique in the way that it was designed (the kids loved spinning on the seats). Lastly, next to the dining table was lounge area with a woodstove stocked with firewood. This was probably one of my favorite places in the cabin. Completed with a bear rug, it was the perfect place for a good book and to relax.
Upstairs were two bedrooms. Each of these rooms were designed with authentic wooden cabin bedframes that truly brought the room together. On one side of the hall was the master with a Queen bed. The other side of the hall was a bunkbed with 2 full beds. In between was a shared bathroom.
Overall, we were blown away by this cabin. We had stayed in many Airbnb's before but what truly stood out were the thoughtful additions that the host had included that we never saw at any other Airbnb. First, there were charging cables (for multiple types of devices) in the bedrooms and kitchen. This was genius! With 2 kids and a husband with an Android -- there were many times that someone had forgotten a charger and seeing this was such a bonus!

Second, there was a fully stocked coffee and tea bar. Usually in an Airbnb we would have a coffee maker without coffee or limited options. This was not the case here. There was such an array of different teas and coffees, including multiple types of sugar and stevia's. It really felt like a coffee and tea bar. Let's just say, we felt spoiled! Third, the amount of board games to use. Games like Uno, Monopoly, and even puzzles. This left no room to be bored and really allowed us to spend time together as a family. Lastly, the hiking poles. Knowing that this cabin was situated next to Swallow Falls, we were definitely going to go hiking. Having a 5- and 9-year-old, these hiking poles were a life saver and actually inspired us to buy our own. Having these available to use was awesome!
I could go on about each personal touch in this cabin (like the LED strips behind each TV -- super cool) but you'll have to experience this marvel for yourself. I rate this Airbnb 10/10 and 5 stars. Not only for the location, but for the cleanliness, the Cabin itself, but mostly the ambiance of this cozy Cabin.
